If you are a new Troy University employee there are several steps you will need to complete to gain access to the services necessary for your job.

You must complete and submit the paperwork required by Human Resources before completing these steps.

Information Technology personnel will not create these accounts until your information has been entered into Datatel by Human Resources.

Steps in bold must be completed by all employees. The steps must be completed in the order listed below.

  1. Submit Paperwork to Human Resources

  3. Contact Your Local Telecommunications Office
  4. Receive Your Trojan Web Express ID
  5. Request Your Trojan E-mail Account
  6. Register for SOS Notifications
  7. Request Datatel/VPN Accounts
  8. Request Additional Services
  9. Contact Your Local IT Help Desk
  10. Request Employee Cell Phone

 

1.
Submit Paperwork to Human Resources

Information Technology will not create accounts until your information has been entered into the Datatel system by the Human Resources department.

Human Resources may require up to 3 business days to process your paperwork once all required paperwork is received by HR.

2.
Review Technology Policies

Review the Technology Policies before proceeding to the next step.

3.
Contact Your Local Telecommunications Office

You may need to contact Telecommunications to assist with the setup of your office extension and related services such as voicemail.

4.
Receive Your Trojan Web Express ID

You must have a Trojan Web Express ID before an account such as e-mail can be created for you. You will not have a Web Express ID until after Step 1 has been completed.

As soon as you have received your ID you must login to Trojan Web Express and change your initial password.

5.
Request Your Trojan E-mail Account

After you have completed Step 4 you will need to request a Trojan E-mail account by completing the Faculty/Staff New E-mail Request Form.

Your account will be created within 24-48 hours after submitting your request.

Your initial password will be generated after submitting the form. Please contact your local Help Desk for assistance with configuring your office computer to access your Trojan E-mail.

6.
Register for SOS Notifications

As part of Troy University’s efforts to provide accurate, timely information to our university community, a new mass communication system is available. TROY contracted with e2Campus to provide an efficient mechanism for expedient delivery of emergency notices to a variety of electronic devices. TROY can swiftly notify university constituents of a number of unexpected events, including:

* Emergency Broadcasts
* Alerts
* Weather Advisories
* School Closing
* Class Cancellation
* Significant Maintenance Events

Step 5 should be completed before registering to receive e-mail alerts.

7.
Request Datatel/VPN Accounts

Consult with your supervisor before submitting a request for Datatel and/or VPN access.

Request Additional Services

9.
Contact Your Local IT Help Desk

Information Technology staff will need to configure your office computer for your use. Please contact your local Help Desk as soon as possible.

10.
Request Employee Cell Phone

Consult with your supervisor before submitting a request for an Employee Cell Phone.

First, review section 607.35.1 Wireless Communication Device Usage of the ePolicy.

Next, you must complete and submit the Employee Cell Phone Request Form. Continue to the next step if your request has been approved.

Assignment of a University Cell Phone requires a monthly deduction of $10 from your pay. You will not receive a cell phone until you have submitted the deduction request AND it has been processed by Human Resources.

Finally, if your request was approved, you will need to complete the Cell Phone Deduction form (PDF) and submit it to Human Resources.
