Voice Mail is an automated message service that is accessed when your phone is unanswered after four rings or if you are on the other line. Voice Mail provides you the ability to personalize your telephone greeting and retrieve messages from anywhere.
Setting Up Your Voice Mailbox
Dial 5250. The default passcode is set to 1111. Follow the directions given by the system. Be sure to setup all 3 features:
- New Passcode: The passcode may be 2 to 4 digits in length and may not begin with 0.
- Greeting: Follow directions given.
- Recommended Greeting: You have reached the office of _______ of Troy University . I am either currently on the phone or away from my desk. (May include office hours.) Please leave your name and number and I will return your call as soon as possible. If you wish to speak to the receptionist, press 0 now. Thank you for calling.
- Name: follow the directions given.
Voicemail
When you have a message your voicemail button will flash. (This button only works when flashing. Dial 5250 to access your voicemail box when no new messages are waiting.)
To retrieve messages:
- Press the Voicemail button on the right side of the phone
- Enter passcode
- Choose from the following options
- Dial 7 to PLAY
- Dial 5 to SAVE
- Dial 3 to DELETE
- Dial 8 for TIME AND DATE
- Dial 2 to FORWARD OR REPLY
Transferring Calls
To transfer a call to another extension
- Press inquiry
- Dial extension number
- Press transfer
Placing a Call on Hold
Press the blinking line button at the bottom left side of panel.
Outgoing Calls
Making internal and external calls
• Lift handset or press the speaker button and proceed depending on call type:
Internal calls
Dial the extension number. Note: only 4 digit extensions may be used.
Press C or replace handset to end call.
External Calls
Local
Dial 9.
Dial the external number.
Press C or replace handset to end call.
Troy Campus Extension
Dial 8.
Dial the 4 digit extension.
Press C or replace handset to end call.
Long Distance
Dial 88.
Dial 1-Areacode-number.
Enter Attnet Code.
Press C or replace handset to end call.
CVCC Campus Extension
Dial 6
Dial 4 digit extension
Press C or replace handset to end call.
To place a long distance call using CVCC's line 6:
Dial 68
Dial areacode-Number
Enter Attnet code
Press C or replace handset to end call.
Please note: When using CVCC's line 6 to make a long distance call, do not dial a 1 before the areacode.

The purpose of the Telecommunications department is to manage and maintain the Troy Campus telephone system at Troy University and to provide advice and support to the Troy University system at all locations as time and resources permit; and to research ways that communications technologies can improve learning and working environments. The Telecommunications department provides quality local and long distance service to all faculty, staff and students at the most economical cost by accomplishing the services listed below.

Telephone Dialing Instructions
On campus calls: Dial only the 4-digit extension number.
Local calls: Dial 9, plus 7-digit number.
Toll Free calls: Dial 9, 1, 10-digit number.

How to set up voicemail:
If you don’t already have a password call Telecommunications (3339) to reset the password. Dial 3095, type in your password and then follow the instructions.
To change your voicemail box greeting:
Dial 3095, type in password, press 8 for user options, press 1 to change your mailbox setup, press 1 to change greeting.
To check your voicemail from your extension on campus:
Press the voicemail button or dial 3095, follow the instructions.
To check your voicemail from on campus other than your extension:
Dial 3000, when the voicemail system answers press #, dial your 4 digit extension number, and follow instructions.
To check your voicemail from your house:
Dial 670-3000, when the voicemail system answers press #, dial your 4 digit extension number, and follow instructions.
To transfer a call directly to a voicemail box:
Put the person on hold, Dial 3000, when the voicemail system answers dial 999, when answered dial the 4 digit extension that you want to transfer the call to, then push the transfer button.
