Removal of Local Admin
Removal of Local Admin
Project Overview
Running a computer system with elevated privileges represents a significant risk to the confidentiality, integrity, security, and availability of Troy University's secure information. Removal of administrative access will severely limit the ability of viruses and malware to harm the University’s computing environment.
On the topic of the principle of least privilege, Microsoft states, “that all users should log on with a user account that has the absolute minimum permissions necessary to complete the current task and nothing more.”
Implementing Least-Privilege Administrative Models
The benefits of this principle include, but are not limited to, increased system stability and security.
