Windows 11 Upgrade

Windows 11 Upgrade

Windows 10 will reach end-of-life in October of 2025. After the deadline Microsoft will stop providing support and updates for Windows 10. All university-owned computers on Windows 10 must be replaced or migrated to Windows 11 before the deadline.

Windows 11 was released in 2021 and represents the latest version of Microsoft Windows. It offers new and enhanced features compared to Windows 10 and is compatible with the latest software and hardware.

The upgrade process will be automatically deployed to University-owned devices in phases. Users will receive an email notification prior to deployment of Windows 11 to their device.

The upgrade process requires minimal user action. The device will need to be connected to a University network, preferably via an Ethernet/LAN cable connection where possible, and remain powered on the night of the scheduled upgrade. If the device misses its scheduled deployment date, then it will attempt the upgrade the next time it connects to the University network.

If you experience any issues during, or as a result of the upgrade process, please call the Helpdesk at 334-670-HELP (4357) or place a Helpdesk ticket.
